Students will sing, dance and act their hearts out in this one hour musical theatre intensive class. The class will give students a taste of the three disciplines that make musical theatre so magical, as well as perform a final showcase of their work. Kids ages 9-13 will work on scenes, monologues and songs from popular plays and musicals as well as do theatre sports and choreography catered to all skill levels.
Mondays at the Music School in the Kinsroom at 6:30 pm

Ruth Brown, a graduate of DSS, received a BFA in Theatre from UBC and her Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University. Most recently, Ruth could be seen playing Ruth in Noel Coward’s, Blythe Spirit (Blue Bridge Theatre Company). Other credits include: “A Christmas Carol”, “Hayfever” and “39 Steps” (Chemainus Theatre Company), “Top Girls” (Playhouse Theatre), “School for Scandal” (Arts Club Theatre), “Noises Off” (Citadel Theatre), “Glorious!” (Stage West Calgary) and “The Skinny Lie” (Green Thumb).
Tracy Neff:
Tracy Neff, a graduate of SDSS, received a BFA in Musical Theatre from the Boston Conservatory (Silver Medal, ’04). She was a featured singer with the Boston Pops Orchestra and did shows such as ‘Godspell’ (Joanna), ‘Candide’ (Cunnegande U/S), ‘Macbeth’ (Witch),’ Captain’s Daughter’ (ensemble) and a showcase in New York City upon graduation. While on the east coast, Tracy spent the summers performing in summer stock shows such as ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ (wife), The Music Man (Gracie), ‘A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum’ (Phillia) and many musical revues! She was most recently seen playing a 12 year old (Olive Ostrovsky) in the Arts Club Theatre/Belfry Theatre co-production of ‘The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee’. Other credits include, Laurey William in ‘Oklahoma!’ (Chemainus Theatre Festival), Sarah Brown in ‘Guys and Dolls’ (Gateway Theatre), Amy in ‘Company’ (Arts Club Theatre, Jessie Nomination for Best Supporting Actress), Charlotte/Milkmaid/Bet in ‘Oliver’ (Vancouver Playhouse Theatre), Sandy in ‘Grease’ (TUTS), Abigail in ‘BIG, The Musical’ (TUTS) and Hope Cladwell in ‘Urinetown’ (Firehall Arts Centre, Jessie Award for Best Production). Tracy previewed her one woman show called ‘My Dreams of the Big Apple and a Coffee to Go!’ at Genesis Theatre for a sold-out crowd and later did a concert/fundraiser for the Delta Hospice called, ‘Brining Home Broadway.’ She has collaborated in many concerts with celebrated accompanist Larry Enns such as the ‘Too Marvelous For Words’ and ‘On The Sunny Side Of The Street’ (PAL Theatre). Tracy is the proud recipient of the 2011 Mentor of the Arts Award for South Delta.
